bunny news

  • The good news: Bunny still has his eye.
  • The bad news: He is blind on that side.
  • The good news: Chances of him keeping the eye are much improved.
  • The bad news: If the bad eye shows any worsening in the next few days, they will still have to take it out.
  • The good news: He's his silly old quirky self, friendly and full of energy.
  • The bad news: He now looks like Marty Feldman. His blind eye points off in the wrong direction and protrudes.
  • The good news: We love him just the way he is.

Glad Bunny's better. My news - purchased TTTT today at K-Mart Katoomba NSW Australia. Sold as Sara Donati. Is this because your pen name is better known in Oz?

Yay for Bunny! Thanks for the update.

I posted about this on the forum but one of my Boston Terriers (Spencer -- named for Princess Diana) had cataract surgery about a year ago. All was going well until just recently when he had a retinal detachment...in humans, they can fix that...but it doesn't work well in dogs and would be very, very expensive -- and we'd have to go to Chicago or Canada to have it done. Anyway, it now means that he is blind in that eye -- and the other eye has a huge cataract so, eventually, unless we operate on that one, too -- and I have substantial doubts about doing that unless and until the cataract has rendered him sightless -- he will eventually be blind. Right now, he runs into things on occasion but seems happy enough and is in no pain. I guess he will accommodate and we will, too. It makes me sad, though...

Lynn, that is sad. I don't know how to feel about Bunny's condition. Relieved that he's not disturbed by the loss of vision on that side, or disturbed because he is definitely different.

I hope Spencer's condition isn't too distressing for any of you. It's so hard trying to make these decisions, being fair to the dog and considering his/her quality of life first and foremost.

5. Lynn spoke up on September 2, 2006 10:57 AM and said:

Thanks, Rosina. It's hard because, for us, our pets are a part of the family and the tendency is to want to do everything we can for them to make things better. If he didn't have the cataract on the other eye, then the loss of one eye wouldn't be so bad...even people live with just one eye and do quite well...but it's just the thought of him going totally blind that gets to me. One of our other five dogs is completely deaf (another Boston -- and she was born that way so she knows no difference) so maybe between the two of them they will muddle through! Right now, I'm in that phase of every time I look at Spencer, I want to weep a bit. But, as I said, we will all learn to live with his disability, one way or another.

Glad your pup is doing well!

Rosina good news about Bunny glad to hear that he is on the mend and back to his quirky self. Now c'mon Marty Feldman was a hunk kudos to Bunny lol!!!

Lynn your a good mom to your pups and at the very least Spencer knows he's safe in your hands and that he is surrounded by love.

Rosina - glad Bunny is doing better - and altho Marty Feldman wasn't a hunk per se he was a brilliant comic who used his odd looks to his advantage - and I bet Bunny will too - probably get more bread out of all of you!!!
