we have a cover for TTTT
My editor just sent me the cover for TTTT. Gold foil where you see gold color, and the resolution isn't excellent on this scan, but this is basically it.
Certainly anybody who sees it will know it's set in the south, no?
A confession: I wish I had published Homestead (and TTTT) under a penname. It just shocks me to see my name on the cover like that, and not in a good way. I could have had such fun renaming myself (or, re-renamiing myself). Evangeline Grant. Graciela Luna. Mimi Occhiogrosso.
Too late now.

I like this cover better. Although I always think of something more gritty when I think of the title "tied to the tracks". I'm sure though that the cover fits well with the story.

I hate to say this but that cover doesn't really inspire me to pick up this novel at a bookstore for a browse and closer look. It is certainly very southern and flowery and a little bit too "romancy" for my taste if you get my drift.
Having said that, I'll still buy the book as I love your writing, but if I didn't know that Rosina Lippi and Sara Donati were one and the same, I'd more than very likely pass it by without even reading the back or first page.
A couple of questions:
How do you feel about it and did you have much input into the design?
Why state the bleedin' obvious ie: - A Novel-?

This is exactly the type of cover that I would pick up in a store to look at. Whether I buy it or not depends on the blurb in the back and the first page. Of course, I am buying this one no matter what. I am so excited!

Okay, to be perfectly honest, I would not have gone in this direction for the cover. The novel is a little edgy, a little snarky in places, and I would have tried to get that sense into the artwork for the cover.
However, the marketing and advertising people at Putnam have strong feelings about these things, and this is what they wanted. They feel that this cover will help sell the novel. I have to believe them, and hope for the best.

I like it. It may not reflect the gist of the story, but it's a beautiful cover. I'd like to hop right in and plop myself on the porch with a good book and a glass of sweet tea.

You certainly do get the Southern thing - this could be Savannah or Charleston. I liked the design that Putnam used for its catalogue, too, particularly because TTTT was on a historical landmark sign.
